Clamping voltage and the protection envelope
The 1.5SMC10A V7G: Its 14.5 V maximum clamping voltage at the 108 A peak pulse current (10/1000 µs waveform) defines the voltage the downstream circuitry must survive — a 12 V-rated input stage on a telecom card has margin here, but a 10 V-rated ASIC does not.
Pulse power and current handling
The 108 A peak pulse current at the clamping voltage tells you the diode can absorb a substantial surge before the silicon reaches thermal limits — useful for secondary protection on a 48 V telecom line card or a 12 V DC input where the primary protector clips the heavy energy and this TVS catches the residual spike. The 9.5 V minimum breakdown voltage and 8.55 V reverse standoff mean the diode stays transparent below 8.55 V and starts conducting hard above 9.5 V.
Temperature range and package fit
Operates from -55°C to 150°C junction temperature — the full industrial and telecom outdoor temperature band. The unidirectional single-channel configuration means one diode protects one rail — a dual-rail design needs two parts.
