Automotive-grade TVS for 24V rail clamping
The 1.5KE27CAH: It is AEC-Q101 qualified and carries an Automotive grade designation, meaning it meets the stress and reliability requirements for under-hood and chassis-mounted electronic modules.
What the voltage ratings mean for the BOM
Breakdown occurs at a minimum of 25.7 V, and the clamping voltage is capped at 37.5 V under the 42 A peak pulse current — this is the voltage the protected downstream components must survive. The 1500 W peak pulse rating is specified for a 10/1000 µs waveform; for shorter transients like ESD or load dump, the peak power capability is higher, but the 1500 W figure is the safe design-in limit for the standard surge waveform.
Package and temperature range for the application
Housed in a DO-201AA / DO-27 axial-lead package, it is a through-hole part suited for point-to-point wiring on terminal strips or PCB through-hole layouts where a robust mechanical anchor is needed. The operating junction temperature range spans -55°C to 175°C, covering the full automotive under-hood thermal profile — from cold-crank to hot-soak under the hood.
