Active production — still a BOM-safe choice for new designs
The 1.5KE250CAH: This is a 1500 W (1.5 kW) bidirectional TVS diode in the 1.5KE series, clamping transients at 344 V max with a 214 V reverse standoff voltage.
Clamping voltage and standoff — sizing the protection margin
With a 214 V reverse standoff (working voltage), the diode stays transparent on a 170–200 V DC bus. Breakdown starts at 237 V min, and clamping holds at 344 V max at the 4.5 A peak pulse current (10/1000 µs waveform). The 4.5 A peak pulse current rating is the current at which the clamping voltage is specified — the actual surge capability is defined by the 1500 W peak pulse power, which covers higher currents at lower clamp voltages.
DO-201 axial package — board-fit note
Tape-and-reel packaging is standard for automated insertion; the axial leads require the correct feeder pitch on the insertion machine.
