Automotive-grade transient suppressor
The 1.5KE15CAH: It clamps transients at 21.2 V maximum with a peak pulse current of 74 A, making it a fit for protecting 12 V nominal automotive buses from load-dump and inductive kickback events. The 12.8 V reverse standoff sits above the 12 V nominal rail, so the diode does not leak during normal operation but triggers before the downstream IC's abs-max rating is reached.
Clamping performance at 1500 W
Breakdown occurs at a minimum of 14.3 V, with clamping held to 21.2 V at the rated 74 A peak pulse current. For a 12 V system, this leaves roughly 9 V of headroom between the clamp voltage and a typical 30 V abs-max on a protected ECU input — enough margin for most automotive transient profiles. The single bidirectional channel suppresses both positive and negative transients in one package, reducing component count on a 12 V bus.
