Its 12.4V minimum breakdown voltage ensures the device stays off during normal operation, while the 18.2V maximum clamping voltage at 86A peak pulse current (10/1000µs waveform) limits the voltage seen by the downstream circuitry during a surge. Rated for 1500W of peak pulse power dissipation, this part handles substantial transient energy in a compact DO-201AA axial leaded package. The 86A peak pulse current rating gives a direct measure of the surge it can shunt to ground before the clamping voltage rises above the protected rail's absolute maximum.
