150V, 40A common-cathode pair — what the ratings mean
Each diode in the common-cathode pair is rated for 40 A average rectified current (Io) at a 150 V DC reverse voltage maximum. The 150 V Vr ceiling gives headroom in 48 V or 72 V bus rails where transients can push above the nominal rail. The common-cathode configuration suits center-tap full-wave rectifiers, boost converter freewheeling paths, and OR-ing diodes in redundant supplies — one package replaces two axial-lead Schottkys. Forward drop is 870 mV typical at 20 A per diode. Reverse leakage is 30 µA typical at rated 150 V — ROHM markets this as a "super low IR" part, so the leakage at elevated junction temperature stays lower than a standard Schottky of the same voltage class. That matters in a hot enclosure where high leakage can shift the bias point of a blocking OR-ing diode or add to the thermal load. The recovery speed is classed as fast recovery, ≤500 ns at >200 mA forward current. This is fast enough for line-frequency and moderate switching applications (20-100 kHz), though not a hyper-fast SiC or GaN diode. For a 100 kHz PFC boost stage, check the reverse-recovery charge in the full datasheet — the ≤500 ns ceiling is a recovery-time limit, not a charge spec. The TO-220 Full Pack (TO-220FN) has an isolated metal tab — no insulating pad or washer needed against the heatsink, which simplifies assembly and eliminates the thermal interface of a mica washer. The trade-off is higher thermal resistance than a standard TO-220; the heatsink must be sized accordingly for the 40 A load.
Through-hole power package — TO-220 Full Pack

The full-pack construction means the backside tab is electrically isolated — the diode's cathode tab does not carry the circuit potential, so the heatsink can be chassis-grounded without an insulating interface. For high-volume pick-and-place, a tube-fed insertion machine handles the TO-220 format; for rework or low-volume builds, hand soldering with a 350°C iron and a large tip on the tab is the usual method.
