Triac output with zero-cross switching
The onsemi MOC3061VM is a 1-channel optoisolator with a Triac output and a built-in zero-crossing circuit, packaged in a 6-DIP (0.300", 7.62mm) through-hole package supplied in a tube. Rated for 4170 Vrms isolation and 600 V off-state voltage, it provides galvanic isolation between a low-voltage control side and a high-voltage AC load, with a minimum static dV/dt of 600 V/µs to prevent false triggering on fast line transients.
Trigger and hold characteristics
The LED trigger current (Ift) is 15 mA max, and the typical holding current (Ih) is 500 µA — the output Triac latches once triggered and stays on until the load current drops below the holding threshold near the AC zero crossing. Forward voltage (Vf) is 1.3 V typical, and the LED can be driven with up to 60 mA DC forward current, allowing direct drive from a 5 V logic output through a current-limiting resistor.
