Last-buy status — plan the BOM closure
The HCPL0501V: Once the Last Buy period closes, the only supply channel will be independent surplus inventory. We can quote this part against your BOM quantity today; availability and price are confirmed at RFQ time.
Isolation and switching — 2500Vrms in 450 ns
2500Vrms isolation between input and output allows the HCPL0501V to sit across a safety barrier in a motor-drive or power-converter gate-drive circuit — the output side floats with the high-side transistor, and the input side connects to the low-voltage PWM controller. Typical turn-on time of 450 ns and turn-off of 300 ns keep propagation delay under a microsecond, so the optoisolator does not add a meaningful phase lag in a switching loop running at tens of kHz. The transistor-with-base output gives the designer access to the phototransistor's base node — useful for tailoring the switching threshold or adding a speed-up capacitor that the integrated-base versions do not offer.
CTR and forward drive — budget the LED current
Current transfer ratio is guaranteed between 19% and 50% at a forward current of 16 mA. That spread means the circuit must be designed for the minimum CTR: with 16 mA LED drive, the output transistor sinks at least 3 mA (19% of 16 mA), which is enough to pull a logic input low or drive a low-power gate. Maximum DC forward current is 25 mA, and typical forward voltage is 1.45 V.
Package and temperature grade
The tube packaging is typical for samples and small-batch production; for high-volume reflow, verify that the tube orientation matches your pick-and-place feeder.
