The onsemi FOD8342T is a 1-channel optical coupling gate driver in a 6-SOIC package, designed to drive IGBTs and power MOSFETs with a peak output current of 3 A. With 5000 Vrms isolation and a minimum common mode transient immunity of 20 kV/µs, it suits motor drive inverters and industrial power supplies where high-side gate drive requires galvanic separation from the control logic.

Switching performance and timing budget

The output stage sources and sinks 2.5 A (high and low), which charges the gate capacitance of medium-power IGBTs in the 600 V/30 A class within the dead-time budget of a three-phase inverter.

Supply rail and drive conditions

The output supply range of 10 V to 30 V covers standard gate drive rails — 15 V for IGBTs and 12 V for MOSFETs — without needing an external regulator.
