5000Vrms isolation for safety-critical isolation
The FOD817D300W is a single-channel optoisolator from onsemi in a 4-DIP through-hole package. It provides 5000Vrms galvanic isolation between a DC input LED and a phototransistor output, rated for continuous operation from -55°C to 110°C. The 300%–600% current transfer ratio at 5mA forward current gives ample margin to drive a microcontroller GPIO or logic gate input across temperature and LED degradation — a common failure point in marginal designs.
CTR range and switching speed for BOM margin
With a minimum CTR of 300% at 5mA, this part can sink the full 50mA output channel current with only 1.2V forward drop — the 200mV Vce saturation keeps the output transistor in hard saturation, minimising power dissipation in the load resistor.

Package and mounting for through-hole assembly
The 4-DIP package with 0.400-inch (10.16mm) lead spacing is a standard through-hole footprint, compatible with wave-solder or hand-solder assembly. The 70V output rating and 50mA continuous output current suit low-side switching of relays, solenoids, or DC loads up to 3.5W.
