Amplified through-beam sensor with selectable NPN output
The Omron EE-SX954-W 1M is an amplified through-beam photoelectric sensor in the EE-SX95 series. It detects an object breaking a light path between the emitter and receiver, with a narrow 0.197 mm sensing gap suited for edge detection, registration mark sensing, and thin-profile object presence. The NPN output is selectable between Dark-ON and Light-ON logic via a wiring option, so a single sensor covers both normally-open and normally-closed PLC input requirements without an external inverter.
Temperature range and mounting
Operating temperature covers -25°C to 55°C, which is typical for indoor factory automation, packaging lines, and warehouse conveyor systems. Outside that band — near an oven line or in a refrigerated cold dock — you'd need a sensor with a wider industrial range. Chassis-mount form factor with a 1-meter cable (the "1M" suffix) simplifies panel or machine-frame installation; no DIN-rail adapter required.
