What this slot sensor is and where it fits
The Omron EE-SX677-WR 1M is a through-beam photoelectric sensor in the EE-SX67 series, designed for precision object detection in confined spaces. Its NPN output is selectable between Dark-ON and Light-ON, letting you match the PLC input polarity without an external inverter. The 0.197 mm slot gap targets small parts, edge detection, or flag presence in assembly and packaging machinery — think label feed verification, cap presence, or gate position on a pick-and-place station. The 1 m cable simplifies wiring in panel or conveyor installations. Operating temperature spans -25°C to 55°C, so it stays inside conditioned enclosures or sheltered industrial bays, not outdoors or near ovens.
Selectable output — one wire, two modes
Mounting and wiring — chassis-mount with 1 m cable
Chassis-mount form factor with a 1 m attached cable — no connector to source, no terminal block to torque. The cable exits the housing, so plan a strain-relief point near the sensor body if the cable sees flex. The slot is 0.197 mm wide; alignment between the emitter and receiver is fixed by the housing, so no optical axis adjustment is needed. The NPN output sinks up to 0.1 A — enough to drive a PLC input directly or a small relay with a flyback diode. Bulk packaging means the part ships loose; order a few extras for the crib if your line runs multiple stations.
