5 V supply and 12 mA switching current — what they mean for the BOM
The sensor runs on a 5 V supply rail, which matches common PLC and microcontroller logic supplies. The switching current is rated at 12 mA — that is the maximum load the open-collector transistor can sink. If you are driving a relay coil or indicator lamp, verify the load current stays under that limit; otherwise buffer with a transistor or solid-state relay. The chassis-mount package suits DIN-rail or panel installation, and the bulk packaging means you order by the piece, not a reel.
Temperature range and environment
Rated for -25°C to 55°C ambient, this sensor is suited for indoor industrial cabinets, conveyor lines, and general machinery enclosures. It is not specified for outdoor exposure, freezing storage, or hot engine-bay environments. If your application sees sustained temperatures above 55°C or below -25°C, you will need a different sensor with a wider temperature grade.
