Reflective convergent sensing at 2–5 mm
The Omron EE-SPY412 is a reflective convergent sensor module that detects a white paper target at 2 mm to 5 mm using an infrared LED. The convergent optics focus the beam at a fixed standoff, so the sensor ignores objects outside that narrow depth band — useful for detecting a passing part on a conveyor or a flag on a moving mechanism without false triggers from background clutter. Output is NPN open collector, Light-ON logic: the transistor sinks current when the reflected beam is received. At 5 V supply the switching current is 15 mA, enough to drive a PLC input or a logic-level load directly.
Reduced external light interference
The EE-SPY412 includes a feature for reduced external light interference, meaning the sensor's detection circuit filters out ambient light from incandescent bulbs, fluorescent tubes, or sunlight that could otherwise cause false readings. This makes it more reliable on a production line where overhead lighting changes or where the sensor points toward a window.
