I2C bus controller with a parallel port — what it does
The NXP PCA9564PW,118 is a dedicated I2C bus controller that presents a parallel interface to a host microcontroller or system bus. It offloads the timing-critical I2C protocol handling from the main processor, translating parallel read/write cycles into the serial I2C bus format.
That makes it straightforward to drop into a 3.3 V system or a 2.5 V core-logic environment. Supply current is a modest 6 mA typical, so it won't strain a lightly regulated rail.
Package and handling — 20-TSSOP, no exposed pad
The PCA9564PW,118 comes in a 20-lead TSSOP package with a 4.40 mm body width (0.173"). It is a standard fine-pitch (0.65 mm) surface-mount package — no exposed thermal pad, so the thermal path is through the leads alone. That is fine for the 6 mA draw; the package stays cool. The "PW" suffix indicates the TSSOP body; the ",118" suffix is the NXP ordering code for Tape & Reel (or Cut Tape) delivery.
It is also ROHS3 compliant, which means no exemption-based restrictions for EU or similar markets.
