300 mA per half-bridge — sizing the motor load
The NXP MPC17559EP is a fully integrated motor controller that combines control logic and a power stage in a single 56-VFQFN package. It drives brushless DC (BLDC) or brushed DC motors through ten half-bridge outputs, each rated for 300 mA continuous.
Ten half-bridges — topology flexibility
With ten half-bridges on a single die, the MPC17559EP can be configured for multi-phase BLDC commutation (e.g., three phases with three half-bridges each plus a spare) or multiple independent brushed DC motors. The parallel interface keeps the control simple — no SPI or I²C overhead, just direct logic-level signals for each bridge. That matters when the host MCU has limited peripheral headroom or when you need deterministic switching latency.
Temperature grade — indoor and consumer duty
The -20°C to 65°C ambient operating range limits this part to consumer, office, or indoor industrial environments. It is not rated for automotive under-hood or extended outdoor exposure. If your application stays inside that envelope — a battery-powered toy, a portable medical pump, a desktop peripheral — the thermal margin is adequate. For wider temperature requirements, look at the industrial-rated siblings in the same family.
