Active BLDC pre-driver for 3-phase automotive motors
The MC33937APEK574 is an active-production NXP motor pre-driver designed for 3-phase brushless DC (BLDC) motors with a pre-driver half-bridge output configuration (3 outputs). Rated for 800 mA output current, it drives external NMOS and PMOS FETs in the power stage, with a load voltage range of 8 V to 40 V and a supply voltage range of 6 V to 58 V.
SPI control and current management
The SPI interface handles configuration and diagnostics — the controller adjusts gate drive timing, dead-time, and fault reporting over the serial bus, which reduces the number of discrete control lines needed between the MCU and the pre-driver. Functionally it is a Controller - Current Management device, meaning it regulates the current delivered to the motor windings through the external FET bridge, not just switching them on and off.
