5A brushed DC driver for automotive loads
It drives brushed DC motors using four half-bridge outputs, each rated for 5A continuous, making it suitable for automotive applications like window lifts, seat adjusters, and pump actuators where the load current stays under that ceiling.
The driver operates from a 5V to 28V supply, which also serves as the load voltage — no separate power rail needed. This range covers the full automotive battery envelope: nominal 12V, cold-crank dips near 5V, and load-dump transients up to 28V.
Parallel interface and CMOS logic
Control is via a parallel interface, which means each half-bridge is driven by dedicated logic pins — no SPI or PWM serial protocol to configure. The CMOS logic inputs are compatible with 5V microcontrollers directly, so no level shifting is needed when the MCU runs at 5V. At 3.3V logic, check the input threshold levels against the MCU's VOH to confirm margin.
