Three buck regulators in a single 5x5 mm PMIC
The MC32PF1550A1EPR2 integrates three buck regulators into one power management IC — a single 40-HVQFN (5x5 mm) package replaces three discrete converters plus their passives and sequencing logic. Input supply range is 3.8 V to 7 V, covering single-cell Li-ion (3.7 V nominal) through 5 V USB rails and regulated 6 V supplies. The three bucks can be configured independently, so a single PMIC serves the core, I/O, and analog rails of an embedded processor. A wearable device worn against skin or an IoT node in an outdoor enclosure stays within the operating envelope without active cooling.
Package and board-fit constraints
The 5x5 mm footprint fits a 4-layer board with the inner planes acting as the thermal spreader. Surface-mount assembly; the exposed pad requires a solder paste stencil aperture that covers 50-70% of the pad area to avoid voiding under the die. No special reflow profile beyond standard lead-free (260°C peak).
