Synchronous up/down counting at 49 MHz
The 74HC193D,652 is a 4-bit synchronous binary counter from the 74HC family, clocked on the positive edge with separate up and down clock inputs. Its 49 MHz count rate sets the maximum toggle speed — above that, the internal propagation delay through the cascaded flip-flops causes the output to miss edges, so budget derating for temperature and supply voltage when running near the ceiling. An asynchronous reset overrides the clock and forces all outputs low immediately — useful for power-on initialization or a hard clear without waiting for a clock edge. The single-element, 4-bit architecture means one package handles one 4-bit count; cascading multiple devices for wider counters requires connecting the ripple-carry outputs.
Packaged in a 16-SOIC body with 1.27 mm pitch — a standard footprint that reflows on a standard lead-free profile.
Active lifecycle and compliance
