100 MHz Cortex-M4 — what the core speed means for your bus
The MK20DN512ZVMD10 runs an ARM Cortex-M4 core at 100 MHz. This sets the ceiling for real-time loop rates, peripheral clock dividers, and USB full-speed frame timing.
512 KB Flash / 128 KB RAM — firmware staging and data buffers
512 KB of Flash holds a full application stack — RTOS kernel, USB stack, CANopen or Modbus library, and a moderate application image — with room for a dual-bank OTA update partition. The 128 KB RAM is split across SRAM and a separate USB SRAM block; it handles CAN message queues, USB descriptors, and a few hundred samples of ADC data without needing external memory. If your application requires more than 128 KB of working memory, you will need to attach an external SRAM or SDRAM via the EBI/EMI interface.
42-channel 16-bit ADC and 2-channel 12-bit DAC
The 42 analog input channels on the 16-bit ADC cover multi-sensor acquisition — thermocouples, current shunts, pressure transducers — without external muxes. The two 12-bit DACs can generate analog setpoints or waveform outputs for actuator trim or signal injection. Both converters share the internal oscillator; no external clock source is required.
