100 MHz Cortex-M4 — what the speed buys you
The 100 MHz core handles real-time control loops and DSP filtering. The 512 KB Flash and 128 KB SRAM support a bootloader and full application image.
This is not an immediate EOL, but the last-time-buy window is the active sourcing horizon. For existing production, this part remains available through independent distribution channels on a quoted-to-order basis. New projects should evaluate the Kinetis K2x or K6x successors from NXP for pin-compatible migration.
Analog front-end and I/O density
The 42-channel 16-bit ADC array covers multi-phase current sensing, thermocouple inputs, and encoder analog feedback without external muxing. The two 12-bit DACs provide reference voltages or analog setpoints. With 100 GPIOs in a 144-LQFP, the part can drive a parallel LCD, interface to an SRAM chip via the EBI, and still leave pins for CAN and USB OTG — a single-chip HMI controller without an external FPGA.
