Digital temperature sensor with I²C/SMBus — what the ±3°C spec means for your thermal management
The MIC2810-4GKYMLTR is a digital temperature sensor from Microchip that measures both its own die temperature (local) and an external diode-connected transistor (remote) over a -55°C to 125°C range. The ±3°C accuracy across the full temperature band sets the error budget for thermal monitoring — a 3°C uncertainty at the high end means you set your overtemperature threshold at least 3°C below the actual silicon limit to avoid false trips or missed warnings.
Supply rail and bus interface — 3V to 3.6V, I²C/SMBus
The I²C/SMBus output means it shares a two-wire bus with other peripherals; the SMBus protocol adds timeout and alert features that I²C alone doesn't guarantee, so check your host controller's SMBus support if you rely on the Alert Response Address.
Package and board integration — 16-QFN (3x3 mm)
The 16-QFN package measures 3x3 mm with an exposed pad underneath — that pad is the primary thermal path to the board.
