Dual-rail supervisor for supply sequencing
The MIC2774N-44YM5 is a dual micro-power low-voltage supervisor from Microchip Technology, designed to monitor two independent supply rails in systems that require a known reset state during power-up, brown-out, or supply dropout. One channel has a fixed 4.43 V threshold; the second channel accepts an adjustable threshold set by an external resistor divider, giving flexibility to monitor a secondary rail at any voltage below the reference. The active-low, open-drain output allows multiple supervisor outputs to be wire-OR'd to a common reset line, a common topology in multi-rail systems where any fault must assert a system-wide reset.
Reset timing and output behaviour
A minimum 140 ms reset timeout holds the output low after the monitored voltages rise above their thresholds, giving the system clock and core logic time to stabilise before the processor starts executing code. The open-drain output requires an external pull-up resistor to the desired logic rail; it sinks current when asserting reset and releases to high-impedance when the timeout expires. With two monitored voltages, this supervisor replaces two single-channel supervisor ICs, saving board area and reducing BOM count in space-constrained designs.
