Protection set and inrush control
The MIC2549A-1YM-TR: Three fault protections are integrated: adjustable current limiting (set by an external resistor between the ILIM pin and ground), over-temperature shutdown, and reverse-current blocking. The reverse-current block prevents the output from back-feeding the input when the load capacitance holds a higher voltage than the supply rail — a common failure mode in hot-swap USB ports. The slew-rate controlled turn-on limits the inrush into capacitive loads; the ramp rate is internally fixed, so a 10 µF output capacitance charges without tripping the upstream regulator's over-current protection.
The part carries ROHS3 compliance, meaning it is fully lead-free and meets the EU RoHS directive without exemption-based exemptions. No official pin-compatible second source exists from Microchip; the part is sole-sourced for the listed BOM position.
