The MIC2549A-1YM: The switch is controlled by a simple on/off logic input (non-inverting), and it reports fault conditions via a status flag output. That flag can drive a microcontroller GPIO or an LED to signal over-current, over-temperature, or reverse-current events.
Protection set — adjustable current limit, over-temp, reverse current
Fault protection includes an adjustable current limit (set with an external resistor), over-temperature shutdown, and reverse-current blocking. The adjustable limit lets you tailor the trip point to the load — useful for powering a USB peripheral that must not exceed 500 mA or 1.5 A, for example. The slew-rate controlled turn-on reduces inrush current into capacitive loads, which matters when the switch powers a bank of decoupling capacitors or a downstream regulator that would otherwise pull a glitch on the 5 V rail.
