USB high-side switch in 8-MSOP
The MIC2544A-1YMM-TR: The 8-MSOP package (3.00 mm width) suits space-constrained boards where a small footprint is needed without sacrificing current capacity. The switch is active-high, non-inverting, and requires no external Vcc supply — the gate drive is derived from the load voltage.
Protection and flagging
Built-in fault protection covers current limiting (adjustable via an external resistor) and overtemperature shutdown — the switch latches off under overcurrent or thermal fault, and the open-drain Status Flag output signals the condition to the host controller. The switch is rated for continuous output at 1.5 A, but the actual current limit is set by the external resistor — the 80 mOhm typical Rds(on) keeps conduction losses low enough that the package can dissipate the heat without forced airflow at moderate ambient temperatures.
