Multi-topology DC-DC controller in a compact 8-MSOP
The MIC2145YMM-TR is a current-mode switching regulator that handles boost, flyback, and SEPIC topologies from a single controller — a single BOM line covers a bias rail, an isolated supply, or a non-inverting buck-boost output without respinning the board. Rated for 500 mA output, it is sized for powering sensor front-ends, op-amp rails, or low-power MCU sub-systems where the load is under half an amp and the input comes from a 2.4 V to 16 V bus. The 450 kHz fixed switching frequency keeps the inductor small enough for the 8-MSOP footprint without pushing the switching losses too high for the 85°C ambient ceiling.
Input and output voltage range — the operating envelope
No synchronous rectifier is integrated — the external diode (Schottky for boost/SEPIC, ultra-fast for flyback) sets the efficiency ceiling; expect 80-87% depending on the topology and load. The single adjustable output with positive configuration means the feedback divider sets the regulation point; the 8-MSOP package leaves room for the resistor network on a two-layer board.
