The MCP14A0155-E/SN is a dual low-side gate driver delivering 1.5 A peak source and 1.5 A peak sink current from a 4.5 V to 18 V supply rail. That 1.5 A peak rating means it can charge and discharge the gate capacitance of a medium-power MOSFET in tens of nanoseconds — the 11.5 ns typical rise and 10 ns typical fall times put switching losses well below the conduction losses for most 40-100 V MOSFETs in a 100-500 kHz SMPS or motor drive. Each of the two drivers operates independently, with separate inverting and non-inverting inputs per channel. This lets you drive a pair of ground-referenced N-channel MOSFETs in an interleaved buck converter, or use one channel as a buffer and the other as a level shifter — the logic thresholds (0.8 V VIL, 2 V VIH) are TTL/CMOS compatible across the full supply range.
