4.4 V threshold — why it picks the reset point
The MCP1322T-44LE/OT is a single-channel voltage supervisor from Microchip that asserts a reset when the monitored supply drops below 4.4 V. That threshold is set for a 5 V rail — it catches brownouts before the downstream logic (typically a microcontroller or FPGA) enters an undefined state.
The wide temperature grade means the reset threshold and timeout stay within spec across the thermal extremes of a factory floor or an engine bay.
Housed in a SOT-23-5 (SC-74A) package, the part is surface-mount and hand-solderable with a fine-tip iron. The five-pin footprint takes up minimal board area — useful when you need a supervisor on a dense mixed-signal board.
Output and reset behaviour
The output can be configured as open-drain or push-pull, and the reset polarity is selectable as active-high or active-low. This flexibility lets the supervisor interface directly with a microcontroller's reset pin (active-low) or a power-good input (active-high) without extra level-shifting.
