The Microchip ATTINY404-SSFR is an 8-bit AVR microcontroller from the tinyAVR™ 0 series, designed for cost-sensitive control applications where small footprint and wide temperature range matter. It integrates 4 KB of Flash program memory, 256 bytes of RAM, and 128 bytes of EEPROM, running at up to 16 MHz from an internal oscillator.
Memory and peripheral sizing for the BOM
With 4 KB Flash and 256 bytes of RAM, this part targets simple control loops, sensor readouts, and communication bridging — not data logging or complex protocol stacks. The 128 bytes of EEPROM provide non-volatile storage for calibration constants or configuration parameters without needing external memory. The 12 I/O pins, shared with the ADC and serial interfaces, require careful pin allocation in the schematic to avoid conflicts. The 10-bit ADC with 10 channels covers multi-sensor analog front ends, though the 16 MHz core speed limits throughput for high-frequency sampling.
