The Microchip 24AA512-I/SN is a 512 Kbit serial EEPROM with an I²C interface, organized as 64K x 8 bits. The 400 kHz clock frequency is standard Fast Mode I²C; the 900 ns access time and 5 ms write cycle (word or page) are typical for this density class. Packaged in an 8-pin SOIC (0.154" body width), surface-mount only.
Supply range and I²C bus integration
The 1.7 V minimum supply and 5.5 V maximum cover low-power and legacy 5 V buses. The I²C interface is standard two-wire (SCL, SDA) with the slave address set by three hardware pins, allowing up to eight devices on the same bus.
Write cycle timing — firmware consideration
After every write command, the 24AA512 enters an internal programming cycle that lasts up to 5 ms. During this window the device does not acknowledge any I²C transactions.
Microchip lists the 24AA512-I/SN as Active. The ROHS3 compliance is current.
