1500W Zener TVS in Hermetic SQ-MELF
The 42.6V reverse standoff voltage and 77V clamping ceiling protect a 42V rail from transients up to 19.5A peak pulse current. The SQ-MELF package is a hermetic ceramic surface-mount case — the same footprint used in MIL-STD-19500 qualified parts.
Breakdown and Clamping Window for 42V Rails
Minimum breakdown voltage is 53.2V, clamping is 77V at the rated 19.5A peak pulse current. That 24V window between breakdown and clamp gives the designer margin for the TVS to absorb energy without exceeding the downstream device's absolute maximum rating on a 42.6V nominal rail. The bidirectional channel handles both positive and negative transients, which simplifies layout on bipolar supplies or AC-coupled lines.
Active Production – Sourcing Through Distribution
Microchip lists the 1N6160AUS/TR as Active. The hermetic ceramic body does not absorb moisture — no MSL bake required before reflow.
