53.6V clamp, 9.3A peak pulse — protection envelope for 29.7V rails
The 1N6120A is a bidirectional Zener TVS diode from Microchip Technology, designed to clamp transients on a 29.7V reverse standoff rail to 53.6V maximum at a peak pulse current of 9.3A (10/1000µs waveform). The 500W peak pulse power rating gives the energy-absorption budget for industrial surge events.
The junction temperature range spans -55°C to 175°C, well beyond the commercial 0–70°C envelope. This makes the 1N6120A a candidate for under-hood automotive, downhole instrumentation, or outdoor telecom cabinets where ambient heat pushes the PCB temperature above 85°C. The through-hole axial package (B, Axial) simplifies heatsinking via lead length and board copper.
Active production — no LTB watch needed
Microchip lists the 1N6120A as Active.
