500 W surge clamp in an axial body
The 1N6119A is a bidirectional Zener TVS diode rated for 500 W peak pulse power under the 10/1000 µs waveform. That 500 W rating means it can absorb a single surge of 10 A for a millisecond without failing — useful for clamping transients on a 27.4 V rail (the reverse standoff voltage). The 34.2 V minimum breakdown ensures the device starts conducting before the voltage climbs to the 49.9 V clamping ceiling.
Axial package and temperature range
Housed in an axial-lead B package (DO-13 style), the 1N6119A is a through-hole part that handles rework well — the leads are thick enough to survive a couple of removal cycles under a hot-air station without lifting the pad. The junction temperature range spans -55°C to 175°C, so it can sit in an engine bay or an outdoor enclosure without derating concerns.
Active production — no obsolescence worry
Microchip lists the 1N6119A as Active.
