500W Zener TVS – Axial, Through Hole, 25.1V Standoff
The 1N6118 is a Zener-type transient voltage suppressor from Microchip Technology, rated for 500W peak pulse power per the 10/1000 µs waveform. With a reverse standoff voltage of 25.1V and a clamping voltage of 47.99V at 13.36A, it protects downstream circuitry from voltage transients on a nominal 24V rail.
Clamping and Breakdown – 29.83V Min, 47.99V Max
Breakdown voltage starts at 29.83V minimum, so the device begins conducting before the rail exceeds 30V. The clamping ceiling of 47.99V limits the let-through voltage to under 48V, which keeps downstream semiconductors within their avalanche rating on a 24V bus.
The junction temperature range spans -55°C to 175°C, qualifying the 1N6118 for military, avionics, and downhole applications. The axial package (B, Axial) dissipates heat through the lead wires, so the derating curve at elevated temperature matters more than for a surface-mount part.
