Transient suppressor for 16.7 V rails – what the ratings mean
The 1N6114: This part is designed for general-purpose transient suppression on DC rails where a bidirectional clamp is needed — the single diode handles both positive and negative transients without polarity concerns. The 16.7 V standoff means the diode will not conduct appreciably below that voltage, so it sits across a supply bus without loading it. The 32.03 V clamp sets the maximum voltage the protected circuit sees during a surge.
Active production – no obsolescence concern
Microchip lists the 1N6114 as Active. The through-hole axial package (B, Axial) is a standard footprint that mates with common PCB layouts and socket strips. The -55°C to 175°C junction temperature range gives ample margin for high-ambient or thermally coupled environments like power supplies or motor drives.
