Zener TVS for 12 V / 15 V rail protection
The 1N6113 is a bidirectional Zener transient-voltage-suppression diode from Microchip Technology, rated for 500 W peak pulse power on a 10/1000 µs waveform. Its 15.2 V reverse standoff voltage sits just above a nominal 12 V or 15 V DC rail, so the diode stays off during normal operation and only clamps when a transient pushes the bus above 18.05 V breakdown. With a maximum clamp voltage of 29.09 V at 17.1 A peak pulse current, the 1N6113 handles industrial surge events like motor start kickback or inductive load dump without letting the rail exceed the downstream silicon's absolute maximum rating.
Bidirectional clamping in a single axial device
This is a single-channel bidirectional TVS — it clamps equally on positive and negative transients, which eliminates the need for two series diodes or a bridge arrangement on AC-coupled or bipolar signal lines. The axial B, Axial package (DO-13 style) is through-hole mounted, suited for point-of-protection on a backplane or terminal block. The junction temperature range spans -55°C to 175°C, so the device can sit on a hot PCB near a power supply or in an outdoor enclosure without derating the pulse capability.
Active production — no end-of-life risk
Microchip Technology lists the 1N6113 as Active in production.
