15 V regulation at 1 W — the DO-41 workhorse
The 1N4744CP/TR8 is a 15 V Zener diode rated for 1 W continuous power dissipation in the standard DO-204AL (DO-41) axial-lead package. The ±2% tolerance on the nominal Zener voltage means the regulation point stays tight across the operating range — useful for clamping a 15 V rail or as a reference in a shunt regulator where the load current stays under the 66 mA maximum.
Parametric guardrails for the BOM
Maximum impedance (Zzt) is 14 Ohms at the test current — this sets the dynamic regulation slope: a 10 mA load swing shifts the Zener voltage by roughly 140 mV. Reverse leakage is 5 µA max at 11.4 V, so the diode does not load the rail below the knee. Forward voltage drop is 1.2 V max at 200 mA if the diode is forward-biased. The full military temperature range of -65°C to 150°C covers most industrial and automotive under-hood applications without derating the power at the high end.
Active production — sourcing through distribution
The Tape & Reel packaging (TR suffix) suits automated pick-and-place, though the axial DO-41 body requires a formed-lead feeder or a through-hole insertion head.
