Single-wire EEPROM for GPIO-constrained designs
The Microchip 11LC040-I/SN is a 4Kbit serial EEPROM that communicates over a single-wire interface — data and clock share one pin. That frees up GPIO on small-package MCUs or when every I/O line is already allocated. Organized as 512 x 8 bits, it stores calibration tables, device configuration, or serial numbers without tying up an I²C or SPI bus. The 100 kHz clock rate is typical for single-wire parts — fine for infrequent reads and writes of small data blocks.
Microchip lists the 11LC040-I/SN as Active. ROHS3 compliant, so it passes into EU and RoHS-regulated markets without exemption paperwork.
Surface-mount 8-SOIC, tube delivery
Packaged in an 8-pin SOIC (3.90 mm body width) for surface-mount assembly. Shipped in tube form — factor that into your pick-and-place feeder setup if your line expects tape-and-reel for this footprint.
