The 1.5KE10A-TP: Breakdown occurs at a minimum of 9.5 V, so the device triggers before the protected line exceeds the safe operating area of most 12 V-rated silicon. The 1500 W rating at the 1 ms/10 µs waveform means it absorbs a substantial surge — enough for industrial power-supply inputs, motor-drive DC buses, and telecom line cards without cascading to upstream fuses or PFC stages.
Package and board integration
Housed in a DO-201AE axial-lead package, the 1.5KE10A-TP is a through-hole device that mounts directly into a PCB with two through-plated holes — the body sits above the board, so the lead length and solder fillet determine the thermal path to the copper pour. The unidirectional channel clamps only one polarity; for AC or bidirectional protection, two devices back-to-back or a dedicated bidirectional TVS is required.
