The TPSA335M016R3500: This is a molded tantalum chip from the KYOCERA AVX TPS series, rated 3.3 µF at 16 V with ±20% tolerance. The 3.5 Ohm ESR is the number to watch on a repair bench — a shorted tantalum on a power rail leaves a telltale scorch mark, and the high ESR limits the ripple current the cap can handle before it thermally runs away. The 1206 case (3.20 mm x 1.60 mm footprint) is a common size for board-level rework.
For a board that cycles from a cold soak at -55°C to a hot engine bay at 125°C, the molded construction resists mechanical stress better than conformally coated parts.
