The SCCV40E506SRB is a 50 F supercapacitor rated at 3 V, from the KYOCERA AVX SCC series. The 50 F capacitance at 3 V delivers a stored energy of 225 J — enough to ride through a brief mains dropout or back up a real-time clock and SRAM for several days, depending on the load current. The lifetime spec is 1000 hours at 60 °C. This means the capacitor loses less than 20% of its initial capacitance after 1000 hours at that temperature; at lower ambient temperatures the service life extends significantly — roughly doubling for every 10 °C drop below 60 °C. Operating temperature range is -40 °C to 65 °C, which covers most industrial and outdoor enclosures. The -10% to +30% tolerance on capacitance means the actual part can measure anywhere from 45 F to 65 F fresh out of the bag — the higher end is typical for supercaps, but the application's hold-up time budget should be calculated at the -10% floor. Through-hole radial can with PC pins, 0.315" (8.00 mm) lead spacing. The 0.709" (18.00 mm) diameter and 1.654" (42.00 mm) seated height fit standard 18 mm snap-in footprints — the same hole pattern used by many aluminum electrolytic capacitors in this diameter, so a board layout already designed for a 18 mm snap-in cap can often accept this supercap with no change.
Because supercapacitors are sensitive to moisture and handling, date-code consistency and lot traceability matter for reliability. Sourced through channels that maintain manufacturer lot codes and provide RoHS/REACH compliance documentation on request.
