66 MHz Quad-SPI — what it buys you
With a 66 MHz clock and Quad I/O, the S25FL512SDPBHI210 delivers a sustained read throughput that can keep an external flash-based execute-in-place (XIP) boot flow from stalling the CPU. For a typical 32-bit ARM MCU running from this flash, the Quad-SPI interface cuts the instruction-fetch bottleneck versus a single-bit SPI. The 512 Mbit density gives you room for a primary firmware image plus an OTA staging area, with enough margin for a recovery fallback partition.
This part comes in a 24-ball TBGA (8x6 mm body), which is a fine-pitch BGA. If you are prototyping or doing rework, you will need a hot-air station with a fine nozzle and X-ray inspection to verify solder joints.
