It communicates over a Quad SPI interface at up to 108 MHz, which gives enough read bandwidth for execute-in-place (XIP) code shadowing in embedded systems.
That means Cypress (now Infineon) has stopped production; there is no last-time-buy window still open.
The 108 MHz clock rate, combined with the Quad I/O interface, lets the host controller read four bits per cycle. For a firmware image stored in NOR Flash and shadowed to RAM at boot, that throughput cuts the load time compared to a single-bit SPI part at the same frequency. The 3 ms page write cycle is typical for NOR — fine for configuration storage, but not a candidate for high-frequency data logging.
