128 Mbit SPI NOR Flash — the code-storage workhorse
It uses the FL-P series architecture and supports Quad I/O SPI at a clock frequency of 104 MHz, which gives read throughput suitable for execute-in-place (XIP) firmware and fast boot loading. The write cycle time is 5 µs per word and 3 ms per page, which is typical for NOR Flash of this generation. The memory interface is SPI with Quad I/O — four data lines plus clock and chip select — so the board layout needs those extra traces compared to a standard SPI part, but the read speed gain is substantial for firmware loading.
