Quad-SPI at 66 MHz — interface and throughput
The SPI Quad I/O interface uses four data lines (IO0–IO3) to deliver higher read bandwidth than a standard single-bit SPI. At 66 MHz the quad-read throughput reaches about 33 MB/s, which is enough to support XIP of boot code or application firmware directly from the Flash without copying to RAM. The interface also supports standard SPI, dual I/O, and quad I/O commands for backward compatibility with legacy controllers.
