128 Mbit NOR Flash with Quad-SPI at 133 MHz
The Infineon S25FL128SAGMFIR03 is a 128 Mbit (16M x 8) NOR Flash memory from the FL-S series, built for code-shadowing, execute-in-place (XIP), and data-logging in embedded systems. The 2.7V to 3.6V supply range mates directly with 3.3V logic families and battery-backed designs.
Quad I/O — what the 133 MHz bus means for throughput
At 133 MHz, the Quad I/O interface delivers an effective data rate of 532 Mbps (four lanes × 133 MHz) in read mode. That is enough to feed a Cortex-M4 or Cortex-M7 core executing from external flash without stalling on instruction fetches, provided the MCU's memory controller supports Quad-SPI with prefetch. For OTA staging, the same throughput cuts the time to write a 16 MB firmware image to under 300 ms. The 128 Mbit density (16 MB) holds a full application image plus a config sector; the 4 KB and 64 KB erase granularity common to NOR Flash lets you update small parameter blocks without rewriting the whole array.
Package and supply — board-fit notes
The 16-SOIC (0.295", 7.50 mm width) is the wide-body variant — verify the footprint matches your layout. Surface-mount assembly is standard.
