128 Mbit NOR Flash for code storage and data logging
It uses a Quad I/O and QPI serial interface running at up to 66 MHz, which gives read throughput sufficient for direct code execution (XIP) from the Flash in most embedded MCU and FPGA configuration applications.
Standard SPI reads one bit per clock cycle. Quad I/O and QPI use four data lines simultaneously, quadrupling the theoretical read throughput to 264 Mbps at 66 MHz. For designs that execute firmware directly from the Flash (eXecute In Place), this reduces boot time and improves code-fetch performance compared to a standard SPI NOR part. The QPI mode also reduces command overhead by sending opcodes over the same four-bit bus.
The S25FL128LDPMFI000 comes in a 16-SOIC package with a 7.50 mm body width (0.295" pitch). This is a standard, widely used footprint for serial NOR Flash, compatible with most PCB assembly lines. The surface-mount package is suitable for reflow soldering; MSL level should be verified from the latest datasheet for moisture sensitivity handling.
