The Cypress CY7C4221-15AXCT is a synchronous FIFO memory from the CY7C series, organized as 9K (1K x 9) bits. The part supports depth and width expansion, includes programmable flags, and is uni-directional with no retransmit or FWFT support.
At 1K x 9, the memory depth is shallow. This FIFO is sized for small buffer applications — think data packet alignment, rate-matching between a fast bus and a slower peripheral, or temporary storage in a pipeline. If your design needs more than 9K bits of buffering, you will need to cascade multiple devices or look at a deeper FIFO. The 35 mA maximum supply current is modest for a 5 V synchronous part.
